Seven altars will participate on Wednesday the 1st in the 'Cruces de Mayo Estepona' '24' contest
Brotherhoods, groups and neighbors will set up their Crosses in different parts of the urban area.
The jury of the contest convened by the City Council will evaluate the beauty, ornamentation, adaptation to tradition, and the craftsmanship of the details used.
The Estepona City Council informs that next Wednesday, May 1, a new edition of the 'Cruces de Mayo' contest will be held, the traditional popular contest in which the beauty of these altars will be rewarded.
With this contest, the City Council aims to maintain the popular roots of this tradition, while offering another attraction to visitors to the historic center. This year a total of seven altars made by Brotherhoods, groups and neighbors will participate.
The jury, which will be made up of technicians from the municipal Parks and Gardens delegation and members of neighborhood groups, will visit the altars starting at 12:00 p.m., without prior notice, to assess the beauty of the Cross, the ornamentation of the place in which it is installed, the adaptation to tradition, and the craftsmanship and details used in the Cross as a whole.
The mayor of Fiestas, Macarena Diánez, has indicated that in this new edition a single category has been called for the best cross in streets or squares, whose first three finishers will receive 1,000, 500 and 300 euros, respectively, in addition to four second prizes of 200 euros.
The different 'Crosses' will have bars so that citizens can taste food and drinks while enjoying this tradition.
