The Estepona City Council informs that Room 1 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas will host an exhibition of paintings by the Extremaduran artist based in the province of Málaga, Jesús Simón.
The opening of the exhibition, which is titled 'Dreams and the Road', will take place on Thursday the 25th, at 6:00 p.m., and can be visited until May 8, from Tuesday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with free access.
Jesús Simón Pizarro was born in Monroy (Cáceres) and lives in Alhaurín de la Torre. His passion for painting began in 1994, when he left his trading company in the automotive sector. “From the beginning it was an unexpected crush, motivated by my wife and the paintings of the German romantic, Friedrich.” He attended classes with the magnificent painter Robles Muñoz and, since then, he has dedicated much of his life to cultivating his technique and developing his own style.
“My artistic training is broad and diverse. I have studied in Madrid, in Cheste (Valencia), Seville and Malaga, obtaining the titles of Diploma in Teaching and Bachelor of Biology from the University of Malaga. I have also had the enormous opportunity to expand my studies in Limerick (Ireland), and Southampton and Cambridge (England) with teachers from dozens of different countries who have made me more tolerant, plural and creative,” says the artist.
His paintings talk about what surrounds him: landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, flowers, portraits of the people he loves. “The important thing is to look for beauty in what is close to you and looking for that point of view that brings you closer helps you enjoy observing it.”
In addition to painting, Jesús Simón has had his own painting academy and has held numerous individual and group exhibitions, in addition to receiving some awards and carrying out private and institutional commissions, and decorating a television series.
His work is present in various galleries in Malaga, Marbella, Granada, Jerez and Madrid, and can also be found in the art collections of Unicaja, and several town halls in the province, as well as in private collections in Spain, Germany, England, Finland, the United States and Venezuela.
